A Cord charger is pointed at GuestCharge from the configuration page built into the charger itself: you connect your phone to the charger's own Wi-Fi network, log in to the configuration page in a browser, and change one setting. No ladders and no laptops, just a phone and the charger's power switch.
Before you start, check you have
About 30 minutes
Your GuestCharge dashboard login
The charger's serial number. It starts with SN and is printed on the side of the charger.
The charger's Wi-Fi password, also printed on the side of the charger.
The PIN from the charger's accessories bag (you may need it to log in to the configuration page).
Access to the charger's power switch. This is usually a dedicated RCBO (Residual Current Breaker with Overcurrent protection) near your fuse board or electricity meter, installed for the charger circuit. You will use it to reboot the charger.
A smartphone or tablet.
1Add the charger in your GuestCharge dashboard
Log in to your GuestCharge dashboard and run the onboarding wizard with the charger's serial number. This registers the charger on our side, so our server knows to expect it when it comes online.
2Connect to the charger's Wi-Fi network
Put your phone in flight mode.
Reboot the charger's power at the breaker, then check the status light is flashing yellow or green. That means the network is ready to connect. The configuration page is only accessible for 15 minutes after a power reboot, so carry on straight away.
Switch your phone's Wi-Fi back on and connect to the charger's own network. Its name begins with SN100 and matches the serial number on the side of the charger. The Wi-Fi password is on the side of the charger too.
If your phone offers to switch you back to a better network, say no.
3Log in to the configuration page
Open your phone's browser, type 192.168.4.1 into the address bar and press enter. The charger's configuration page opens.
If you are asked for a password:
Cord Zero: enter the PIN on the side of the charger, or the PIN created during installation. If you have forgotten it, hold the reset button on the side of the charger for 30 seconds. That resets the password to the initial Wi-Fi password used at installation, which is in the user manual or on a sticker on the side of the charger.
Cord One: enter admin123.
Tap login.
If the page will not load, reboot the charger's power and try again within 15 minutes.
4Point the charger at GuestCharge
Tap Network Settings.
In the OCPP endpoint URL field, delete the current address and enter: wss://ocpp.guestcharge.co/. You do not need to add the charger's serial number after the final slash.
Tap CONFIRM. You should see a Configuration successful message.
The charger then resets itself and the configuration page logs you out. If it does not reset on its own, turn it off and back on at the breaker.
How you know it worked
The charger shows as connected in your GuestCharge dashboard. Allow 15 to 30 minutes for it to register after the change.
If it won't connect
Give it the full 30 minutes. Cord chargers can take 15 to 30 minutes to register with the platform after the OCPP address changes.
If the configuration page would not load at 192.168.4.1, reboot the charger's power and reconnect to its Wi-Fi network. The page is only accessible for 15 minutes after a reboot.
Check your phone stayed on the charger's SN100 network. Some phones quietly hop back to your home Wi-Fi.
Double-check the address reads exactly wss://ocpp.guestcharge.co/ with nothing after the final slash.
Forgotten the Cord Zero PIN? Hold the reset button on the side of the charger for 30 seconds to reset the password to the initial installation Wi-Fi password.
Still stuck? Email the charger's serial number to team@guestcharge.co and we'll check whether the Cord has reached our server.
