An EV charger for your holiday let — that pays for itself.
Offer EV charging to guests and get paid automatically. Guests scan a QR code and pay per kWh used — fair, Ofgem-aligned billing with no manual meter reads and no awkward money conversations.
Can you bill holiday let guests for EV charging?
Yes. You can install an EV charger at your holiday let and bill guests for the electricity they use. UK rules (Ofgem’s Maximum Resale Price) cap the per-kWh price at what your own supplier charges you, and billing on actual usage requires an MID-certified meter. GuestCharge automates the billing: guests scan a QR code, pay per kWh by card, and you’re paid out via Stripe — with no setup or monthly fees.

Why holiday let owners add EV charging
Win more bookings
A growing share of UK guests drive EVs and filter for properties with charging. A charger is increasingly a reason to book — and a reason not to.
Stop subsidising electricity
Charge guests fairly for exactly what they use instead of absorbing the cost or guessing a flat fee that’s unfair to light users.
Earn pass-through revenue
A well-used charger can pass through hundreds of pounds a year in charging revenue, billed automatically with no admin.
Works with your charger
GuestCharge works with 80+ OCPP-compatible charger models including Wallbox, Easee, myenergi Zappi and Pod Point. Not sure if yours is compatible?
Frequently asked questions
Can I put an EV charger in my holiday let and charge guests for it?
Yes. You can install an EV charger and bill guests for the electricity they use. Under Ofgem’s Maximum Resale Price rules you can charge up to the per-kWh rate your own supplier charges you. GuestCharge handles the billing so guests pay per kWh automatically by card.
What is the best EV charger for a holiday let?
The best charger is a WiFi-connected unit that supports the OCPP standard, so it can be billed automatically. Popular choices include Wallbox Pulsar Plus, Easee One, myenergi Zappi and Pod Point Solo 3. If you bill on actual usage you also need an MID-certified meter — some chargers include one, otherwise a separate MID sub-meter is fitted alongside.
How do guests pay for charging?
Guests scan a QR code at the charger, pay by card for the electricity they use, and plug in. There is no app to download and no account to create. You are paid out automatically via Stripe.
How much does it cost to set up?
GuestCharge has no setup fee and no monthly cost. You only pay a 10% platform fee on guest charging revenue, and card fees are paid by the guest. You set your own per-kWh price.
Do I need a special meter to bill guests?
If you bill based on actual usage, your meter must comply with the Measuring Instruments Regulations 2016 (MID). This is the host’s responsibility. Our complete guide and MID-compliance guide explain exactly what you need.
