ABB Terra AC chargers are configured over Bluetooth with ABB's TerraConfig app. Two practical things before you start: you need a TerraConfig account (free to create in the app), and Bluetooth configuration only works within about 3 metres of the unit, so this is a standing-next-to-the-charger job.

Before you start, check you have

  • The TerraConfig app (App Store / Google Play) and an account
  • The pin code sticker that came in the charger's box
  • Your Wi-Fi name and password (or ethernet/SIM details)
  • About 25 minutes

1Add the charger in your GuestCharge dashboard

Run the onboarding wizard with the charger's serial number, which is on the barcode label on the side of the unit.

2Connect to the charger

  1. Open TerraConfig, log in, and tap Configure a Charger
  2. Scan the upper barcode on the side of the charge point, the one holding the serial number. If the phone keeps grabbing the wrong barcode, cover the lower one with a finger.
  3. Enter the pin code from the sticker in the box
  4. Tap the charge point in the TerraConfig Dashboard and wait for the phone to connect

3Update the firmware

Tap the Firmware button. The app checks whether the charger is on the latest version and updates it if not. Don't skip this; old firmware is the most common cause of connection trouble later.

4Get the charger online

Tap Connections and choose Wi-Fi, ethernet or cellular, entering the details. Then scroll to the bottom and tap Confirm Configuration. The app sends the settings to the charger and validates they arrived.

5Point the charger at GuestCharge

Reconnect to the charge point from the dashboard, then:

  1. Go to OCPP Server
  2. Choose the option to configure a custom OCPP server and enter wss://ocpp.guestcharge.co/ followed by the serial number
  3. Tap Confirm Configuration

6Switch off free vending

Go to Free vending and deactivate it, then Save. This matters: free vending means anyone can charge without paying, which defeats the point of guest billing.

7Confirm everything

Scroll to the bottom and tap Confirm Configuration one final time. The app validates that the charge point received it all.

How you know it worked

The charger shows as connected in your GuestCharge dashboard.

If it won't connect

  • Firmware first: confirm step 3 actually completed
  • Check the server address and serial number
  • Stay within Bluetooth range during configuration; dropouts mid-save cause odd half-applied states. If in doubt, redo step 5.
