Webasto Next setup comes in two halves: initial configuration in the Webasto Charger Setup app, then the GuestCharge address entered through the charger's built-in web page. The manual that came with the unit matters here, as it holds both the hotspot key and the Master Password. Dig it out before you start.

Before you start, check you have

  • The Webasto Charger Setup app (App Store / Google Play)
  • The manual, for the WLAN key and the Master Password
  • Your Wi-Fi name and password
  • About 25 minutes

1Add the charger in your GuestCharge dashboard

Run the onboarding wizard with the charger's serial number, which is on the unit's label and doubles as its hotspot name.

2Log in to the app

Open the app and connect to the charge point. The hotspot credentials are in the manual:

  • WLAN SSID: the charge point's serial number
  • WLAN key: the password printed in the manual

You can type them or scan the QR code printed next to them. If using the QR code, give the charger a few minutes after powering on; the screen tells you when it's ready. When the connection prompt appears, tap Join.

3Run the initial configuration

Tap Initial configuration and follow the screens:

  • Power settings: adjust to suit the installation
  • Free charging: select Disable free charging. This one matters: free charging means anyone can plug in without paying, which defeats the point of guest billing.
  • Internet type: choose how the charger gets online and enter the details

4Apply and reboot

Tap Apply and reboot and wait for the charge point to restart.

5Rejoin the charger's hotspot

After the reboot, open your phone's Wi-Fi settings and rejoin the charger's network, named NEXT- followed by digits. The password is the same WLAN key from the manual.

6Open the charger's web page

In a browser, go to 172.20.0.1. Your browser may throw up a security warning page; choose to visit the site anyway. Log in with:

  • Username: admin
  • Password: the Master Password from the manual

7Enter the GuestCharge settings

Navigate to Backend settings and set:

  • Connection type: WLAN
  • Connection URL: wss://ocpp.guestcharge.co/ followed by the serial number, like wss://ocpp.guestcharge.co/NEXT1234567

Press Save.

8Restart

Tap the AD icon in the top right corner and select Restart System.

How you know it worked

The charger shows as connected in your GuestCharge dashboard after the restart.

If it connects but won't charge

This is a known Webasto quirk: the charge point connects fine but sessions won't start on old firmware. Contact Webasto support, ask them to check the firmware version on your unit, and have them update it if needed. Then try again, and email us at team@guestcharge.co if it still misbehaves.

If it won't connect at all

  • Check the Connection URL and serial number for typos
  • Confirm the charger got online during the initial configuration
  • Make sure free charging is disabled and the configuration was applied before the reboot

Still stuck? Email the serial number to team@guestcharge.co and we'll check from our side.
