Smappee is one of the easiest setups we support: everything happens in Smappee's online dashboard from any browser, using the account created when the charger was installed. No hotspots, no cables, no apps.

One naming quirk to know upfront: Smappee chargers identify themselves with SMP_ in front of the serial number. So a unit with serial 1111111111 calls itself SMP_1111111111, and that's the form you'll use in our onboarding wizard.

Before you start, check you have

  • The login for the Smappee Dashboard, from when the charger was installed
  • The charger's serial number
  • About 10 minutes

1Add the charger in your GuestCharge dashboard

Run the onboarding wizard with the charger's identity in the SMP_ form: SMP_ followed by the serial number.

2Log in to the Smappee Dashboard

Go to dashboard.smappee.net and log in with the account used when the charge point was installed.

3Find your charge point

Use the search field on the right side of the screen to find your charge point.

4Point it at GuestCharge

Find the Session activation method field and click the edit icon on its right. Scroll down and select Other CSMS, then in the field below enter:

  • wss://ocpp.guestcharge.co

Save the settings.

5Reboot the charge point

Reboot the unit so the new settings take effect.

How you know it worked

The charger shows as connected in your GuestCharge dashboard after the reboot.

If it won't connect

  • Check the URL for typos
  • Check the wizard entry uses the SMP_ prefix. 1111111111 and SMP_1111111111 are different identities to our server, and only the second one is your charger.
  • Confirm the charger is online in the Smappee Dashboard. If Smappee can't see it, neither can we.

Still stuck? Email the SMP_ identity to team@guestcharge.co and we'll check from our side.
