We'll be upfront: Garo is the one brand we support where you can't do the setup yourself. Garo requires the configuration to be done by an installer with remote assistance from a Garo technician, and that assistance is a chargeable service booked in advance.

It's not a reason to avoid Garo. It just means the connection happens on installation day rather than as a weekend job, so the key is booking the technician slot before the install date.

How it works

  1. Add the charger in your GuestCharge dashboard using the onboarding wizard, with the charger's serial number, so everything is ready on our side.
  2. Book a remote assistance slot with Garo for the installation date. For UK and Ireland, contact GARO UK or GARO Ireland; their general support line is the fallback.
  3. On the day, your installer connects to the charger and the Garo technician walks them through pointing it at our server: wss://ocpp.guestcharge.co/ followed by the charger's serial number. Make sure your installer has that exact address format and the serial number to hand. The connection must be secure (wss), and the serial goes on the end of the address.

What your installer should bring

Garo's required toolkit for the session:

  • Micro USB to USB cable
  • LAN cable (if the setup uses a router in a cluster)
  • A computer with an internet connection
  • Keys to the charger
  • A T20 screwdriver

How you know it worked

The charger shows as connected in your GuestCharge dashboard before the installer leaves. Worth checking on the spot, while the technician is still on the line.

If something goes wrong later

If a connected Garo unit drops offline down the line, check the internet connection at the property first. If that's fine, email the serial number to team@guestcharge.co and we'll check whether the charger is reaching our server before you book another Garo session.
